IPOH: Despite Thaipusam celebrations having concluded a week ago, the direct involvement during the festival continues to leave a lasting impression.
One notable example is the Kinta Social Welfare, Sports, and Cultural Association, which provided meals to 2,000 individuals during the Thaipusam procession.
They engaged with participants of the Thaipusam chariot procession, moving from the Sri Subramaniyar Temple in Gunung Cheroh to the Maha Mariamman Temple in Buntong.
The chairman of the association, P. Uvarajan, mentioned that this is the second year the association has offered free meals to Hindu devotees.
He stated that providing free meals is a Hindu religious tradition that emphasizes food donation as a form of charity.
“Last year was the first time our association provided free meals, so we continued the charitable activity this year. Providing meals to the public during Thaipusam also offers a new experience and exposure to our members in carrying out community activities,” he expressed.
He also expressed gratitude to those who collaborated to make the program a success.
