Ipoh – Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) introduced the Open Payment System (OPS) today, offering various ticket payment methods for users.
Transport Minister, Loke Siew Fook, stated that OPS has been an initiative of KTMB since 2019. It aims to facilitate ticket purchases online, via kiosks, counters, and through automatic control gates (ACG).
“The OPS supports the Ministry of Transport’s Digitalization Strategic Core 2021-2025, which targets comprehensive improvements in service delivery efficiency.
“This new facility enhances the user experience by offering more practical ticket payment methods,” he said during a media briefing at the KTMB Open Payment System Launch event here.
Users can travel using debit cards, credit cards, and near-field communication (NFC)-enabled devices like Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay, as well as KTMB’s KITS app and Touch ‘n Go cards.
“The OPS allows users to access KTMB services without specific tickets, particularly for the KTM Komuter service, by simply tapping their debit or credit card at the automatic control gates,” he added.
Furthermore, the number of transactions using the OPS has increased by 597%, from 8,613 transactions in November 2023 to 60,040 transactions in January 2024.
Meanwhile, Loke also distributed Chinese New Year packages to KTMB passengers.
Present at the launch were Housing and Local Government Minister, Nga Kor Ming; Mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin; Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Dato’ Jana Santhiran Muniayan, and KTMB Chief Corporate Officer, Suhaimi Yaacob.
