IPOH: Megoplex Business Complex (Megoplex) on Raja Dr Nazrin Street, which used to be one of the important business locations in Ipoh, may potentially resume operations.
If true, this could revive the business complex that has been inactive for years.
The Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) has invited qualified companies to submit proposals (RFP) to operate the complex.
The relevant bid advertisement provides opportunities for companies registered with the Ministry of Finance and the Companies Commission of Malaysia.
Interested companies can submit the RFP no later than March 18th.
Megoplex is a placement of buildings primarily for Bumiputera entrepreneurs that began operating in 1998.
Apart from housing over 200 traders, Megoplex’s main tenant at that time was Billion Supermarket.
However, the number of visitors to Megoplex started declining when Billion Supermarket ceased operations in 2016.
Some traders received offers to conduct business in a new location at the Silveritage Galleria Complex in Medan Gopeng here.
Meanwhile, PKNPk is also opening a proposal for the operation of the Malay Traditional House on Persiaran Meru Raya near Bandar Meru Raya.
The eligibility criteria for the proposal are the same, and applications should be submitted no later than March 18.
Ipoh Echo / Peraktastic had previously reported on three adjacent traditional houses near Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah that were left abandoned.
The traditional house that has been open since 2014 was once used as a restaurant.
In 2020, it ceased operations, believed to be a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic, and has been abandoned until now.
