TAIPING – A total of 106 units of Military Family Housing (RKAT) at the Taiping Station Staff Headquarters (MSS) have been completed and maintained, involving an allocation of RM8.9 million.
This includes RKAT Denaro Line and RKAT Salerno Line located within the Complex SKD, MSS Taiping.
The RKAT Denaro Line and RKAT Salerno Line were built in 1952, predating the era of independence to accommodate Commonwealth military personnel.
Maintenance of 100 units of RKAT Denaro Line was carried out by the Royal Army Engineers Regiment (RAJD) 2nd Division Headquarters in collaboration with the Defense Engineering Services Division and the Public Works Department (JKR).
Works commenced on March 7th and concluded on January 31st, involving a cost of RM8.4 million.
Maintenance of RKAT Salerno Line involved 6 residences, along with another at RKAT Drummond Hill, undertaken by JKR in July of last year at a cost of RM495,000.
A ceremony for the handing over of replica keys to all RKAT units was officiated by the Commander of the 2nd Division, Major General Dato’ Azhan Md Othman.
Maintenance of the RKAT units falls under the responsibility of the Taiping Station Staff Headquarters, encompassing aspects of cleanliness, and safety, as well as order and control over all occupants.
