Junior Chambers International (JCI) Kinta held a press conference and business networking session for the JCI Malaysia Sustainable Development Award (SDA) 2024 today at The Bistro @ Impiana Hotel Ipoh.
It was a packed affair with entrepreneurs and business representatives coming together to discuss the importance of sustainable development as well as to connect with one another for future opportunities.
In addition to the guest of honour YB Goh See Hua, the ADUN of Pasir Pinji, there were also an assortment of distinguished guest speakers.
Guest speaker Mr. Andy Yap, the CEO of Great Vision Business Advisory Sdn Bhd, spoke about the importance of sustainable development, citing the direct impact that is felt by everyone, such as the recent climate. He also stressed that we would feel the consequences of irresponsible use of resources within our lifetimes, hence why we need to behave sustainably.
“We do not borrow from our ancestors, we borrow from our future”, he said.
Mr. Kevin Tan, a business coach and ESG Strategy Consultant, was another speaker, who in addition to noting the importance of sustainable development, also clearly illustrated the benefits of sustainable development, dispelling the myth that it will only cost a business money.
It was an insightful event with plenty of opportunities to bring entrepreneurs from different fields together, giving them access to industries that they would otherwise have had trouble connecting with.
This project by JCI Malaysia was hosted by JCI Klang, but through mutual cooperation, this press conference was hosted by JCI Kinta.
