IPOH: The condition of a severely injured victim believed to be a result of being trampled by a wild elephant near Gerik yesterday, garnered attention as the Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, paid a visit.
Saarani took the time to visit the injured man who is currently receiving treatment at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital Ipoh here.
Through a post on his official Facebook page, the Chief Minister expressed shock over the incident.
“Shocked by the news of a man severely trampled by an elephant at Batu 11 near the Memorial Monument, East-West Highway Gerik-Jeli.
“This evening, I went straight to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital Ipoh to see the actual condition of the victim.
“I was informed that Ahmad Nazri Osman, 55, from Felda Bersia, suffered broken ribs, a broken left leg, and head bleeding.
“I managed to offer words of encouragement to the family members who are being tested with challenges while celebrating Eid.
“Let us all pray for the victim’s swift recovery and return to health,” said the related post.
In the incident that occurred at 7 p.m. last Thursday,
the victim was trampled by the wild animal while wanting to defecate by the river in the vicinity of the area concerned.
The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) confirmed that the incident took place at Batu 11, near the Memorial Monument, JRTB Gerik.
