KERIAN: A 50MW solar power plant is being built in Parit Buntar, Kerian, as an initial step towards transforming the area into a hub for high-tech and green development.
This is in line with the state government’s plan to develop the Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park.
The solar farm is being constructed by a private company, Asiabina.
With a capacity of 50MW, this solar farm is capable of generating green energy for 25,000 households annually, reducing 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and saving electricity usage every year.
It is aligned with the Green Technology Agenda (Solar and Hydro) in the Perak Sejahtera Development Plan 2030.
Earlier, the inauguration ceremony of this solar farm was officiated by the Chief Minister of Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
This inauguration is also a significant moment in supporting the use of clean and sustainable energy in Perak.
In his speech, he stated that the state government is serious and committed to advancing Perak in terms of industry and technology.
“We are moving forward with the High-Tech Automotive Valley (AHTV) in Proton City, Tanjung Malim, the Silver Valley Technology Park (SVTP) in Kanthan, Chemor, and the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) in Lumut.
“Now, KIGIP in Kerian will be one of the main drivers of economic growth in the northern region.
“We want to ensure that the future generations of Perakians no longer need to leave the state to seek other livelihoods,” he said.
