IPOH: After a hiatus of six years, the Perak Tourism Awards 2024 is now returning with 40 tourism awards to be contested in September this year.
According to the Chairman of Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Perak Corridor Development, Loh Sze Yee, the awards are one of Tourism Perak Management Berhad’s initiatives to boost Visit Perak Year.
He said that nominations for these awards will be open for two months starting from May 1st and will close on June 30th.
“The award ceremony will be held on September 13th at Hotel Casuarina @ Meru.
“The last event was organized in 2017, and this year it will be held again to recognize and award individuals in the tourism industry for their services, support, and dedication.
“There will be 40 tourism awards contested across 10 categories including accommodation, services, tourism products, food, and others.
“Nominations for the awards have been updated to be conducted online and open to industry stakeholders or nominations from others,” he said.
He said this during a press conference after officiating the Pre-Launch Ceremony of the Perak Tourism Awards 2024 at MU Hotel, here today.
Also present was the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Perak, Nurmalis Musa.
Sze Yee added that there are five appointed jury panels for the awards.
He mentioned that they not only comprised industry practitioners but also directly involved in the tourism industry with backgrounds in academia and the corporate sector.
