Ipoh’s Newest Community Gathering Spot

By Anne Das

Perak Women for Women Society (PWW) unveiled a new addition to its initiatives with the inauguration of The PWW Book Club, marking a significant milestone for the recently established PWW Centre @ IGS.

This unique PWW CENTRE @ IGS offers more than just literary exploration—it provides a cosy library space for reading, browsing, and borrowing books, complemented by a self-serve drinks station where attendees can enjoy a cuppa coffee while contributing to covering costs.

Guest Speaker Dr. Paul Gnanaselvam engages attendees with captivating stories at the new PWW Centre @ IGS

The launch event, graced by guest speaker Dr. Paul Gnanaselvam, who was invited to read from his book “The Elephant Trophy and Other Stories,” drew the attendance of 30 enthusiastic members and book aficionados. Amidst the camaraderie and engaging discussions, attendees enjoyed local treats, including delicious cake.

Situated on the 2nd floor of a walk-up shop lot, in Ipoh Garden South, the PWW CENTRE @ IGS doubles as a venue for various training sessions, motivational programs, talks, and meetings. The spacious book cafe/library serves as a hub for sharing views and ideas on diverse topics of interest, while the centre itself boasts a slew of intriguing programs lined up for the future.

The lovely Sumathi Sivamany, President of PWW, warmly welcoming guests alongside Fiona Fong
