MANJUNG: Two women were injured while two others, including a young girl, were safe after the car they were in skidded and overturned into a ditch at kilometer (km) 226.1 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) northbound, last night.
According to the Assistant Director of Operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the incident resulted in one of the victims being trapped inside the vehicle.
He stated that his team received an emergency call at 7:29 PM, before firefighters from the Ayer Tawar Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by Sitiawan, rushed to the scene.
“There were four victims in the Proton Pesona car, consisting of two adult women, one adult man, and one young girl.
“One female victim was found to be trapped, another was injured, while the remaining two were unharmed,” he said on Thursday.
Sabarodzi explained that the operations commander then conducted a size-up and applied the SAVER concept.
He added that the victim was successfully extricated using hydraulic rescue equipment.
Subsequently, the victim was handed over to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) personnel for further treatment.
