SIMPANG PULAI: Two women were killed, a man was seriously injured, and two young girls were hurt when the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were travelling in collided with a truck carrying a load of tyres.
The incident, which occurred today on the road from Simpang Pulai to Kerawat, caused the Toyota Avanza MPV to veer into a ditch.
According to Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, Assistant Director of Operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the accident happened at 11:39 AM on Saturday.
He stated that personnel from the Simpang Pulai Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), assisted by the Gopeng unit, rushed to the scene.
“The accident involved a Toyota Avanza MPV colliding with a 1-ton truck carrying tyres.
“There were five victims in the Toyota Avanza, two of whom were trapped and later pronounced dead by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM),” he said in a statement on Saturday.
Sabarodzi added that the operation involved 16 fire and rescue personnel and was completed by 1:15 PM.
