IPOH: Efforts to establish the Smart City of Perak 2040 continue to be intensified with active steps towards this process.

This includes conducting working visits to countries that are potential models.

As part of this effort, the Perak state government has sent a delegation on a Technical Visit to Bandung, Indonesia in preparation for the Perak Smart City 2040 Blueprint.

The delegation included representatives from the Local Government Division, PLAN Malaysia Perak, Perak Local Authorities, and Perak Housing and Property Board (LPHP).

Also present was the Perak State Executive Councillor for Housing and Local Government, Sandrea Ng, who shared these details on her Facebook social media platform.

She mentioned that Bandung is not only renowned for its natural beauty, unique culture and arts, and creativity, but is also among the Southeast Asian cities that are highly recognised for Smart City development.

“In 2021, a study by the Eden Strategy Institute listed Bandung as one of the world’s 50 smartest cities, ranking 28th globally and recognised as Indonesia’s smartest city.

“The technical visit organised by the Seremban City Council provided the delegation with an opportunity to learn about the experiences of implementing smart and low-carbon city projects and initiatives in Bandung,” she said.

In addition to receiving briefings and visiting the Bandung Command Centre and the “Shining Trash Bank,” the delegation had the opportunity to ride Indonesia’s and Southeast Asia’s first High-Speed Rail (HSR) connecting Jakarta and Bandung.

In November 2021, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) released the Draft Ipoh City Local Plan 2035 (Replacement), which includes proposals to build a Light Rail Transit (LRT) system in Ipoh City.

According to the draft, 28 LRT stations will be built covering two routes in the city.

The first route is from Meru Raya-Ipoh-Batu Gajah, covering a distance of 30km, while the second route, Bandar Sunway-Ipoh-Simpang Pulai, spans 28km with a service frequency of every six minutes.
