Law Games 2018
The 49th Malaysia-Singapore Law Games 2018 was held in Ipoh from April 28 to 30. The last time Ipoh hosted such an event was 26 years ago.
Seventeen different sports were contested by the Malaysian Bar Council and the Law Society of Singapore over a period of three days. Sporting activities were held at the Azlan Shah Stadium, Royal Ipoh Club, Kledang Hill, Meru Valley Resort, Ipoh Padang, Anderson School, Ipoh Swimming Club, Royal Perak Golf Club, Taman D.R. Seenivasagam and WEIL Hotel.
The Malaysian team emerged victorious scoring 12 points to the Singaporean team’s five points. They won badminton, basketball, bowling, cross country, darts, golf, hockey, pool, squash, table tennis, soccer (veteran) and volleyball.
“Our two Bars have enjoyed a close relationship that began decades ago which has been strengthened by our generous and reciprocal sharing of knowledge, experience and information in numerous joint activities, formal events and informal encounters,” said George Varughese, president of the Malaysian Bar Council.
“There is so much we share in common on both sides of the Causeway in terms of heritage, culture and our legal profession. Sports are a great ice-breaker and social equaliser,” added Gregory Vijayendran, president of the Law Society of Singapore.
