Family Wellness Club organised Chair Yoga session at WEIL Hotel

In celebration of this year’s International Day of Yoga, a Chair Yoga event was organised by Family Wellness Club in collaboration with WEIL Hotel, whereby a full hall of 65 participants aged from 22 years to 86 years had attended.

President Ms. P. Mangaleswary

The President of Family Wellness Club, Ms. P. Mangaleswary, started the event off at 10 am with a sharing with the participants on how in 2014 the United Nations passed a resolution supported by 177 countries to have an International Day of Yoga to promote the many health and wellness benefits of yoga.

Puan Norazlia Erwina and Ms. Aruna Rajah

The 2nd speaker was Puan Norazlia Erwina from WEIL Hotel, who spoke about the hotel’s commitment to community health initiatives. She added that WEIL Hotel was happy to collaborate with Family Wellness Club in this Chair Yoga event.

Dr V. Paranthaman

The 3rd speaker Dr. V. Paranthaman, a family medicine specialist and the Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Perak branch, discussed some of the benefits of yoga that are supported by science.

Ms. Aruna Rajah

Yoga instructor Ms. Aruna Rajah then led the participants in an hour long chair yoga session. Giving her instructions to the participants clearly, with eloquence and poise, the feedback from the participants after the session was positive.

One participant, named Amu, said “I found today’s session very relaxing. It was so beneficial to have the mix of medical information and yoga, both in a self-care context. Thank you, that was fantastic! Bravo to the organising team.”
