IPOH: For the first time ever, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) will introduce Media Awards to appreciate the role and support of the mass media.

The awards aim to recognize the reporting and creative works of journalists, cameramen, and photographers on issues related to the city of Ipoh.

Ipoh Mayor, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, stated that the awards ceremony will be held in August during the MBI Media Night 2024.

He mentioned that a total of eight awards will be presented, including Best TV News Report, Best Special TV Report, Best News Report, and Best Article.

Additionally, awards will be given for Best Photographer, Best Videographer, Best Journalist, and Special Recognition.

“Mass media and journalists are bridges that bring MBI closer to the city residents through their coverage and analyses,” he said.

“This includes promoting various positive aspects of Ipoh city, especially tourism and much more,” he added.

He made these remarks while speaking at the Friendly Meeting Session of the Ipoh Mayor with the Head of the Media Bureau here.

In his speech, Rumaizi also expressed gratitude to Puncak Emas Infra Sdn. Bhd. for collaborating with MBI in organising this event to appreciate the role of media in Ipoh city.

He hopes that more companies like MBI and Puncak Emas Infra Sdn. Bhd. will conduct programmes beneficial to mass media colleagues.

“The media partners in Ipoh city consistently provide coverage each year to encourage more parties to contribute and sponsor beneficial programmes for the well-being of Ipoh city residents,” he said.
