IPOH: Efforts to enhance the state’s tourism sector have borne fruit as Perak was among the top five states receiving the highest number of domestic visitors in 2023, totaling 17.1 million people, a significant increase from 14.6 million in 2022.
This information was disclosed by Menteri Besar Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
He stated that efforts to attract tourists will continue to be strengthened, with initiatives to enhance infrastructure at tourism hotspots being intensified.
“There is ample room for improvement to ensure that Perak becomes a premier tourist destination. God willing.
“Perak not only boasts many attractive tourist spots, but its people are also friendly and hospitable,” he said.
Menteri Besar also urged people of Perak to collectively promote tourism in the state by inviting acquaintances from outside to visit Perak.
Meanwhile, in other developments, China is seen as a potential country to attract tourists from, following the visa exemption to enter the country.
The Perak government will capitalise on this opportunity to intensify promotions to attract more tourists from there.
According to the State Executive Councillor for Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Development of State Corridors, Loh Sze Yee, these efforts are currently being intensified.
He mentioned that Tourism Perak, in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia, will double efforts to engage with tourism industry players in China.
