KUALA KANGSAR: A total of 28,000 fish fries and 92,000 giant prawn fries were released during the Release Ceremony of Fish Fries into Public Waters 2024 at Kampung Jamuan here today.
Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun, Chairman of the Rural Development, Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry Committee of Perak, stated that three species of fish fries were released in addition to the giant prawn fries.
“I understand among the fish fries released were 28,000 lampam, 2,500 Temoleh, and 2,500 Kerai Kunyit,” he said in a statement on his Facebook after completing the event.
Also present were the Director of Fisheries of Perak, Mohd Ghazali A Manap, and the District Officer of Kuala Kangsar, Muhammad Nazri Abdullah.
Mohd Zolkafly mentioned that Perak state aims to release a total of 2 million fish fries and giant prawn fries into various areas throughout the state to enhance fish stocks and enrich natural resources.
“A total of 1,665,500 fish fries have been successfully released in 13 districts of Perak state so far.
“This is to sustain fisheries in rivers and conserve the heritage treasures of our rivers.
“If rivers are well maintained, they can enhance income and self-sufficiency for local fishermen,” he said.
