PARIT: Paddy Field Sports Carnival 2024 Perak Tengah took place with great enthusiasm at Bendang Pam Senin, Layang-Layang, here on June 21 and 22.
The carnival was organized by the Perak Tengah District and Land Office in collaboration with the Perak State EHEYNS Exco, as well as various agencies and government departments of the Perak Tengah District.
The two-day event was held from 3 PM to 6 PM on Friday and from 7:30 AM to 3 PM on Saturday.
Various exciting activities in the paddy fields included zumbatik, climbing a slippery pole, pillow fighting, traditional karaoke, and paddy field netball.
Additionally, there were paddy field football, paddy field telematch, cycling on narrow paths, and tug-of-war.
Exhibitions by various departments and agencies were also held.
The last time such carnival was held was in 2017.
Chairman of the Perak State Higher Education, Youth, and Sports Committee, Khairudin Abu Hanipah, was present at the carnival.
Also present, Chairman of the Tourism, Industry, Investment, and State Corridor Development Committee, Loh Sze Yee.
In his speech, Khairudin expressed his desire to make the carnival an annual event and to include it in the Tourism Perak event calendar.
Such programs are good initiatives by agencies and the government to strengthen community ties, promote the Perak Tengah area, and reintroduce traditional games that are increasingly being forgotten.
