IPOH: A food processing factory was raided by the Perak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) on suspicion of diesel oil misappropriation and storing controlled goods for factory operations without authorization.
According to its Director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, the raid was conducted under Ops Tiris 3.0 at the Menglembu Industrial Area on Tuesday.
He said that intelligence revealed that the premises used a wholesaler tanker truck to deliver diesel oil to the premises, suspected of not having permission to store controlled goods from the Supply Controller.
Further inspection found that the premises were suspected of storing other controlled goods such as cooking oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for factory operations.
“The inspection discovered liquid suspected to be diesel oil, estimated at 4,850 litres in the tanker truck and a drum.
“Six LPG tanks (50kg) within the premises and 102 bottles of cooking oil (5kg) with an estimated total seizure value of RM92,7355.50.
“Further investigation found the premises engaged in packaging products using weighing instruments to determine their weight.
“Two weighing instruments used were found to be expired in their verification.
“Therefore, another action was taken under Section 14(6), Weights and Measures Act 1972, for suspected use of weighing instruments for trade purposes with expired verification,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He added that the supplier of the controlled goods involved will also be investigated.
He further stated that if proven involved, legal action will be taken for violating Regulation 9(1) PPKB 1974, selling to parties without Supply Controller authorization, which is an offence under Regulation 21(1) PPKB 1974.
Therefore, he said the case will be investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 and the Supply Control Regulations 1974.
