Jsic Music, alongside Lions Club of Ipoh Hosts, and with the support of Tourism Perak, will be presenting a unique concert that is aimed at bringing benefit to the community, as well as exposing musical skills to those who would normally not be able to enjoy it. This special concert will feature pianists playing on piano apps to create an orchestral concert.
Called the “Dare To Dream: Symphonic Fusion in Harmony” concert, it will take place on August 4, starting at 3 pm, at the Shen Jai High School music hall.
This concert will not only feature live instruments such as a piano and 60 to 70 keyboards, but also about 40 of the performers will be performing over a piano app, played from their phones and tablets. This is the most unique aspect of this concert.
According to the conductor and music director of this concert, Ms. Hew Siew Chin, this was partially because of something that happened to her some years ago. When she and her fellow performers went to Hong Kong to perform, they brought their instruments with them. Many of which were damaged during the trip, and required thousands of ringgit to repair. So she had always hoped for a more portable way of playing instruments, which modern technology has allowed.
Not only that, but this concert will also bring exposure of music to members of the deaf community, as there will be a Sign Singing segment to go along with the performance of Mr. Chen Sanboa, a renowned tenor and founder of CCTV “Hakka Sanbao” group.
The concert will feature an orchestra with over 100 performers, composed of veteran performers, student performers from schools such as SJKC Ave Maria Convent and SMJK Poi Lam, to Quest International University, and even newcomers who have not had prior musical experience.
