IPOH: Perhaps coincidentally, the large drain near Taman Pengkalan Jaya (Taman SPPK) which was previously overgrown, has now been cleaned.
Congratulations to the authorities for carrying out the cleaning work.
It is also possible that there was already a periodic cleaning scheduled.
However, the local community feels that it is inappropriate to let weeds and small trees grow in the drain and that it needs to be cleaned.
This is because the main function of this large drain is to channel water, especially during heavy rain.
A resident, Zulkifli Ismail, wants the routine cleaning of the large drain to be done more frequently without letting the plants grow too large.
He said that in addition to ensuring water flow, residents are also concerned that the drain could become a breeding ground for vermin, while stagnant water could breed mosquitoes.
“We know there is cleaning work being done, but the plants will grow back, so frequent cleaning is necessary.
“Don’t blame the residents if there are open complaints because we only see what is in front of our eyes,” he said.
Previously, Ipoh Echo / Peraktastic published a public complaint about the large drain there, which was overgrown with grass and large trees, making it look like a jungle.
