Perak Police Chief Assists Officer Involved in Accident

IPOH: Perak Police Chief, Datuk Azizi Mat Aris, provided assistance to a traffic police officer who was involved in an accident while escorting vehicle of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Ipoh on Monday.

In the incident, which occurred at 10:30 a.m., Lance Corporal Mohd Faizol Deraman was escorting the Prime Minister on his way to attend the 2024 World Congress on Islamic Thought and Civilization (WCIT) at the Casuarina Convention Centre here.

According to a statement, Mohd Faizol was riding a motorcycle and managing traffic to ensure the smooth movement of the Prime Minister’s convoy.

“During the incident, a vehicle in front of Lance Corporal Mohd Faizol suddenly stopped in the left lane, causing the officer to collide with it as he was in the same lane.

“Perak Police Chief, who was also at the scene, immediately provided emergency assistance to the officer,” the statement said.

It added that the victim was then taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for further treatment.

“He is reported to be in stable condition with minor injuries,” it said.

The statement also mentioned that the Prime Minister, who was on his way to welcome the arrival of Sultan Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at the event.

“Sympathizing with the situation, the Prime Minister made a contribution to alleviate the burden faced by the affected officer.

“The contribution was delivered by Perak Deputy Police Chief, Deputy Commissioner Zulkafli Sariaat,” it said.
