New Hope for Ipoh Strays

QIU Joins Forces with Animal Heroes

By Anne Das

Ipoh’s stray animals are about to get a much-needed boost, thanks to a powerful new alliance between Quest International University (QIU) and two local animal welfare champions, PapanSouls and Noah’s Ark Ipoh. This collaboration, aptly named the Pawsitive Partnership, promises to bring fresh hope to the city’s stray cats and dogs.

QIU staff and students participating in the booth activities organised during the launch ceremony of the university’s Pawsitive Partnership with Noah’s Ark Ipoh and PapanSouls.

The Pawsitive Partnership, launched at QIU’s La Place café, will see university staff and students actively supporting vital community work. Their efforts will include adoption drives, feeding, cleaning, and caring for animals in local shelters. But this mission extends beyond just hands-on help.

The School of Communication at QIU will leverage its expertise to raise awareness about the plight of these strays through community outreach and dynamic social media campaigns—efforts that also serve as valuable practical learning experiences for the students involved.

“This partnership embodies our commitment to real-world learning and community engagement,” said Prof Dr. Adeline Kok, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. “It’s an excellent opportunity for our students to develop a deeper understanding of social issues and contribute to positive change.”

Prof Dr. Kok’s enthusiasm was echoed by student volunteer Doh Yoke Xing, who shared, “Being part of this has opened my eyes to the plight of abandoned animals here and the difference we can make through collective efforts and compassion.”

The launch event brought together dedicated animal lovers from QIU, PapanSouls, and Noah’s Ark Ipoh. These ‘animal heroes’ shared their experiences and challenges in animal rescue, providing attendees with valuable insights into the world of volunteerism.

The enthusiasm among students was evident, with many already brainstorming ways to get involved. This partnership represents a committed effort to make a real difference in the lives of Ipoh’s stray animals.

Through the combined efforts of QIU, PapanSouls, and Noah’s Ark Ipoh, the Pawsitive Partnership aims to improve the lives of abandoned animals and strengthen community bonds.
