MANJUNG: The police have denied viral information regarding a tourist boat allegedly sinking at Pangkor Island on Friday.
Manjung District Police Chief, ACP Mohamed Nordin Abdullah, stated that the incident actually occurred overseas.
He mentioned that the Manjung District Police Headquarters (IPD) received information about the false claim on Friday, around 9 AM.
“IPD Manjung received inaccurate information about a tourist boat sinking at Pangkor Island that was circulating on social media and WhatsApp.
“Following investigations, the Manjung police found that the incident did not happen at Pangkor Island but instead occurred abroad,” he said in a statement here.
He also advised the public not to spread false information and to refrain from making unfounded speculations that could disturb public order.
