Nepalese Man Dies in Dormitory Brawl, Police Searching for Tun Tun Naing

PARIT BUNTAR: A Nepalese man died in a group brawl at a workers’ dormitory near Kuala Kurau on Sunday.

According to Kerian District Police Chief Superintendent Juna Yusof, preliminary investigations revealed that the 28-year-old factory worker was believed to have been killed in the altercation due to stab wounds from a sharp object.

The fight involved a group of Myanmar and Nepalese workers, triggered by dissatisfaction over noise disturbances.

Following the incident, 21 people involved in the brawl were arrested to assist with the investigation.

However, the police have found that a 38-year-old Myanmar national, Tun Tun Naing, who is believed to have been involved in the fight, has disappeared after the incident.

“On August 18, Sunday, around 12:35 AM, the Kerian District Control Center received a call about the brawl.

“A team from the Kerian District Police rushed to the scene and found that the fight had ended, but a Nepalese man had died.

“It was found that the group of Myanmar and Nepalese workers were employed at the same factory located in Kuala Kurau,” he said on Sunday.

He added that the person sought by the police, Tun Tun Naing, is a factory worker residing at No 3448, Batu 13, Jalan Pantai Baru, Kuala Kurau.

The police are requesting public assistance if anyone has information about the Myanmar man to contact ASP Ambri Mat Nayan at 011-1309 2525 or Insp. Fernandes Bayoi at 019-867 3515.

Additionally, information can be provided to the Kerian District Police Headquarters at 05-721 5222 or the nearest police station.
