IPOH: A 41-year-old man who was feared lost on a hilltop near Chemor Estate, here, at midnight on Monday was found in a weak state early this morning.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, said they received a call from the police regarding the man, who was unable to find his way down, at 12:43 a.m.
He further explained that personnel from the Tambun Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the location at 1:26 a.m.
“The man reportedly entered the forest at around 6 p.m. on Monday.
“He informed his family that he couldn’t find his way down at 10:30 p.m.
“The man was still reachable via phone, but it was difficult to pinpoint his exact location due to the older model phone he was using,” Sabarodzi said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
As a result, the search for the man was conducted with assistance from mountain guides and the Drone Unit.
“The search was divided into two teams, one from the STORM unit and the other with the mountain guides.
“However, the operation leader reported that the man managed to descend on his own and reached the foot of the hill at 11:45 a.m.,” he said.
He added that the man was found in a weakened state and was given initial treatment by the Perak JBPM’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.
“The man was then handed over to the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) for further action,” he added.
The operation concluded at 1:32 p.m.
