Access Road to Kinta Nature Park Needs Immediate Upgrade to Ease Visitor Access

By Aida Aziz

BATU GAJAH: Traveling from the main road to Kinta Nature Park here can be quite challenging despite the road being straight.

This is due to the uneven and unpaved condition of the road, compounded by potholes that could damage low vehicles.

It seems that the condition of the road here has not changed much despite the park’s long existence, and it remains quiet and somewhat dangerous to navigate alone.

The signpost indicating the entrance is also overgrown with bushes and poorly maintained.

Given that the park is a habitat for over 150 bird species, it deserves more attention and basic amenities to facilitate visitor access.

The park spans 900 hectares, and among the water birds attracting tourists are the kingfisher, woodpecker, hornbill, stork, and many others.

It is acknowledged as a popular spot for bird watching by visitors from both local and international locations, as well as for its captivating natural beauty.

However, it is hoped that the authorities will consider the condition of the 6-kilometer access road from the main road, which is in quite poor shape.

During a recent survey, many vehicles had to zigzag to avoid deep potholes and puddles.

Upgrading the access road would at least provide relief to those interested in visiting the park.

Additionally, the river along the access route is a great spot for fishing enthusiasts, making it a popular destination during leisure time.

Kinta Nature Park is open daily from 9 AM to 4:30 PM with free admission.

Visitors can also enhance their knowledge through interesting educational and ecotourism programs available at the park.

These programs help increase awareness and understanding of environmental sustainability.

This article is not intended to point fingers at any party but to suggest improvements for the benefit and image of Perak.

This is especially relevant as Perak is currently promoting attractions in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2024.
