KUALA KANGSAR: Nine people were evacuated to a temporary relief center (PPS) following flooding caused by continuous rain in Kampung Batu 17, Padang Rengas, here, Tuesday night.
All of them are taking shelter at the Kolej Risda Kuala Kangsar relief center.
According to Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the flood affected several areas, including Kampung Buaia and Kampung Batu 17.
He mentioned that the nine victims include three men, three women, and three young girls.
Additionally, water levels in the affected areas reached up to 1.5 meters in depth.
However, he stated that monitoring of the flood in Kampung Buaia is ongoing, and water levels are reported to be receding.
He added that the Kolej Risda Kuala Kangsar relief center was opened at 12:30 AM, and rain is still ongoing in the flood-affected areas.
