IPOH: The President of the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCCI), Dato’ Liew Chee Meng, has stated that the appointment of new committee members, predominantly younger individuals, is a positive development for the organization.

The recent election and appointment of the new PCCCI Central Committee members saw most of those appointed being under the age of 50.

This indicates that the current PCCCI leadership prioritizes capable and principled young leaders who can advance the organization to new heights.

He noted that at the Annual General Meeting on July 28, 2024, during the election of the new Central Committee members, all 50 nominated members were elected unopposed.

“This reflects the unity and harmony within PCCCI and indicates that the new Central Committee will lead PCCCI towards continued growth and success in its administration,” he said in a statement.

The swearing-in ceremony was for the 61st PCCCI Central Committee, the 7th Youth Committee, and the PCCCI branches for the 2024/2027 term.

He also expressed appreciation and thanks to all the previous central committee members who stepped down to make way for the new leadership.

In particular, he acknowledged Dato’ Ng Yuk Gee, the former Deputy President who was active in PCCCI for over 20 years and made significant contributions, especially during the Perak Trade Fair 2022.

At the same time, Liew is working to cultivate young leaders and continue introducing new leadership to lead PCCCI.

He also encouraged PCCCI members to seize opportunities to organize carnivals and business expos.

The 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Conference (WCEC) will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from September 9 to 11.

The event, organized by the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia, will include several forums to analyze and discuss various economic issues.

Thus, he urged traders, especially in Perak, to actively participate and plan systematically to strengthen their businesses.

Meanwhile, in the same statement, Honorary President of ACCCIM and PCCCI, Dato’ Lim Kok Cheong, noted that PCCCI has been established for over 100 years in Perak and has played a significant role.

He also expressed confidence in the leadership of President Dato’ Liew Chee Meng, who has received full support from the Central Committee members.

At the same time, he encouraged women to join the organization and respond to the government’s call for 30 percent female representation in decision-making roles.
