IPOH: The Malaysia Rocket Competition (MRC) 2024, organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and UiTM-MTC High Energy Material Research Laboratory (HEMREL), returns for its second edition with the theme ‘Launch Your Dream.’
The competition involves 45 teams from secondary schools and universities, including participants from Indonesia, Singapore, and India.
This program aims to cultivate a new generation with in-depth knowledge in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The two-day event on September 4 and 5 is being held at the Institute of Leadership & Development (ILD) Perak and Felcra Seberang Perak.
This location also serves as the rocket launch site.
Each competing team will have the opportunity to present their rocket and cansat designs on September 4, according to the categories being judged.
To ensure the functionality of the rocket and cansat designs, rocket and cansat launches will take place at the launch site on September 5.
Appointed judges will evaluate the rocket launches during the competition.
This year’s event features three main categories: Category 1: 1-kilometer Rocket, Category 2: 1-kilometer Rocket with can-sized satellite, and Category 3: Can-sized satellite flown by a drone.
MRC 2024 aims to expose students to rocket science technology and foster their interest in the field, ensuring they stay up-to-date.
The goal is to drive the development of cutting-edge technology and to potentially catalyze the development of Malaysia’s own satellite launch vehicles in the future.
