In a recent effort to raise public awareness about first aid and CPR, Hospital Seri Botani successfully hosted the “Always Ready” event at Eco-Park 1, Bandar Seri Botani. The event brought together healthcare professionals, community members, and local leaders for a day filled with health education, fitness, and life-saving skills.

CPR and Basic Life Support skills can be taught from a young age and may prove invaluable in emergencies

Amid the growing urgency for rapid responses during emergencies, the event attracted a diverse crowd eager to learn vital first aid techniques. Dr. Eric Yeoh Kok Ming, CEO of Hospital Seri Botani  emphasised the hospital’s role in emergency preparedness. “Our EMS Unit is always on standby, staffed by skilled professionals trained to manage any crisis. This event ensures that every individual can also be ready to respond in an emergency,” Dr. Yeoh explained.

The hospital’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Team conducted a hands-on demonstration, teaching attendees the basics of first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). These life-saving techniques empower individuals to act swiftly in medical emergencies.

Participants also practised the correct technique for the Heimlich manoeuvre, learning how to assist a choking victim effectively.

YB Tan Kar Hing, Member of Parliament for Gopeng, a guest of honour at the event, highlighted the importance of public health responsibility. “Being equipped with basic first aid knowledge can save lives. Hospital Seri Botani is doing a great service by providing the community with tools and skills to respond in critical situations,” said YB Tan.

In a particularly engaging moment, both YB Tan Kar Hing and YB Wong Chai Yi, ADUN for Simpang Pulai, participated in the hands-on CPR training session, encouraging attendees to follow their lead. The practical training reinforced the need for well-stocked first aid kits in households, schools, and workplaces.

Participants embraced the high-energy session while enjoying the fresh air and scenic surroundings of Botani Eco Park.

To complement the health-focused activities, the event also featured a high-energy Zumba session led by TAS Studio, blending fitness with fun. Attendees were encouraged to prioritise physical wellness alongside learning life-saving skills.
