Azerbaijan Ambassador Shares Sustainability Efforts with PUO Community

IPOH – Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) had the privilege of welcoming the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Malaysia, Irfan Davudov, who shared his country’s experiences and best practices in sustainability efforts.

During his visit, the Ambassador also provided insights into Azerbaijan’s preparations for hosting and chairing the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The convention is set to take place from 11 to 22 November 2024 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is a unique country where East meets West, situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, known for its rich history and abundant petroleum resources.

The COP29 convention will serve as a platform for world leaders to assess progress and negotiate strategies to combat climate change.

Also present during the sharing session was the Chairman of the Malaysian Green Technology Society (MGTS), Dr Chandra Sagaran, who participated as a second panelist, alongside the Senior Lecturer of the Civil Engineering Department at PUO, Ts. Dr. Nur Hidayah Ahmad.

PUO’s Deputy Director (Academic), Norman Zamri, was also in attendance.

PUO expressed its gratitude to MGTS for sponsoring prizes for the winners of the recent ‘Green Design and Innovation Competition’, which aims to inspire students to engage in sustainability initiatives.

MGTS, established on 2 June 2014, focuses on promoting and educating youth on the importance of green technology for a sustainable future through various programs and activities organized by the society.
