IPOH: A new method for alleviating chronic pain is now available in Ipoh.

Known as Radiofrequency (RF) Therapy, it provides long-term relief for anyone living a pain-blighted life.

RF therapy uses heat generated by radio waves to disrupt the transmission of pain signals from specific nerves, providing targeted relief.

This treatment has been proven highly effective for managing conditions such as chronic back pain, arthritis, neuropathic pain and joint pain.

By applying RF energy directly to the nerves causing discomfort, the treatment reduces or eliminates pain and allows patients to return to their normal daily routines with minimal downtime.

RF therapy, also known as RadioFrequency Ablation (RFA), offers an option for those who have not responded to conventional treatments.

Since its introduction in 2015, it has proven to be safe and effective.

Orthopedic & Reconstructive Surgeon at Pantai Hospital Ipoh, Dato’ Dr Vasan Sinnadurai, stated that radiofrequency therapy is a game-changer for patients who have struggled with chronic pain for years.

It provides an alternative to surgery and medications by targeting the source of nerve pain.

He said that many patients can enjoy lasting relief for six months to over a year with just a single treatment.

“Briefly, the advantages of RF Therapy include not requiring open surgery, leading to faster recovery times.

“It provides long-lasting relief with patients who often experience pain relief for six to twelve months or longer.

“This method reduced medication dependence. RF therapy reduces the need for pain medications, particularly opioids.

“The targeted treatment focuses only on the nerves responsible for transmitting pain, preserving other nerve functions,” he explained.

This treatment is suitable for patients suffering chronic back pain due to facet joint or sacroiliac joint issues.

It is also effective for those with joint pain related to Osteoarthritis (knees, hips, shoulders), Trigeminal neuralgia (facial pain), Chronic headaches and migraines, Peripheral neuropathy, such as postherpetic neuralgia or diabetic neuropathy.
