Seminar held on Cyber Bullying

The Rotary Club of Greentown had its “School Counselors Seminar” at the Sri Indar Hotel at Parit Buntar on 16 October. This project, which is in its eighth year since its inception, is under the stewardship of the Rotary Club of Greentown in partnership with Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Perak and the Psychiatry Department at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB). It is one of Rotary Club of Greentown’s Mental Health Initiatives entitled “Train The Trainer – Teachers Making A Difference”.

The title for this seminar was “Seminar Guru Penggerak Perubahan: Pencegahan Buli Siber Dalam Kalangan Warga Pendidikan Negeri Perak 2024”. The main focus was on Cyber Bullying.

This seminar was held in conjunction with World Mental Health Awareness Month and Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Perak’s “Peluncuran Bulan Kaunseling Kebangsaan 2024 – Peringkat PPD Kerian”.

The event was also graced by 5 Members from Rotary Club of Greentown, 4 from Rotary Club of Kerian & 2 from Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur Dynamics.

A total of 40 School Counselors from the Northern Region were in attendance at this workshop. Also in attendance were 6 representatives from Jabatan Negeri Perak, 2 speakers from HRPB and 1 speaker each from the Rotary Club of Greentown and Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Perak.

The guest of honour was Tuan Haji Zolkafli bin Zainol Din (Ketua Kaunselor Pendidikan Negeri Perak, Sektor Psikologi & Kaunseling, Jabatan Negeri Perak).

In his opening speech, Tuan Zolkafli spoke about the importance of having such workshops for the betterment of the general education of the population and the impact it will make over the years. He also thanked Rotary Club Greentown and HRPB for their continuous support in sustaining this project and will continue to do so.

Mr. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, an Advocate and Solicitor Lawyer as well as past president of the Rotary Club of Greentown, spoke on “Assistance for Cyber Bullying Victims from the Malaysian Law Perspective”.

Finally, Dato Dr. Sushil Kumar Ratti, President of Rotary Club of Greentown, thanked the Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Perak and HRPB for their continued support and involvement in this project.
