IPOH – A new sinkhole, estimated to be over three feet deep, has been discovered on Persiaran Wira Jaya Timur 50, near Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Gunung Rapat.
A regular road user, Hamdan Osman, 54, stressed the need for immediate action by the authorities before the situation worsens and endangers road users.
“Although the sinkhole is still small, it has the potential to grow larger due to the unpredictable weather conditions.
“Through this deep sinkhole, a large space can be seen underneath, which is sure to exacerbate the situation,” he said during an interview with Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
He further mentioned that the sinkhole has been marked with a red circle and labelled ‘L24’. However, he is unsure whether the issue has been reported to the relevant authorities, as no action has been taken so far.
Hamdan hopes for immediate measures to be taken to prevent any unwanted incidents that could jeopardize public safety.
