Ipoh: Perak Community Specialist Hospital (PCSH) has announced the appointment of a new Board of Visitors (BOV) to strengthen its relationship with the local community and enhance patient care.

Chaired by Dato’ Mohammad Odzman Abdul Kadir, the board will serve a three-year term and includes members Dato’ Azizul Kama, Dato’ Wan Azahari, Shanker Retinam, and Hanson Lau, all of whom are recognized for their leadership in their respective fields.

According to Section 104 of the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998 [Act 586], all private hospitals with more than 50 beds are required to establish a Board of Visitors. This appointment is a significant step for PCSH to ensure that its services align with the needs and expectations of the community.

A hospital spokesperson stated that the Board of Visitors is essential in ensuring that the hospital continues to offer high-quality care while being responsive to community needs.

“The BOV is expected to play an active role in conveying information about hospital services to the public and building community trust.”

“Since their appointment, the BOV has successfully organized several health screening programs in Manjung, Ayer Tawar, and Sitiawan. Through these initiatives, they have raised awareness about the importance of proactive healthcare, reinforcing the principle that ‘prevention is better than cure’.

“The BOV visits the wards regularly to interact with patients, listen to their needs, and provide gifts to children in the Paediatric Ward, as well as congratulate parents of newborns during festive seasons,” he added.

Furthermore, the commitment and support of the BOV are expected to assist PCSH in maintaining high healthcare standards while ensuring that hospital services meet the needs of patients and their families, ultimately positioning PCSH as a modern hospital that provides quality and affordable healthcare services to the Perak community.
