IPOH – Do you remember the house on Jalan Merpati, notorious for its piles of garbage allegedly collected by an elderly woman?
Previously reported several times on Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic, the story sparked a strong response from netizens, eventually prompting action from the Ipoh City Council (MBI), which cleared the site on December 25, 2023.
However, nearly a year later, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic revisited the property only to find the situation had worsened.
The garbage piles have not only returned but are now spilling over the fence, encroaching onto neighbouring properties.
This condition raises questions about the motivation behind accumulating such waste without regard for the safety and comfort of nearby residents. Adding to the concern, the house is located near a main thoroughfare frequently used by visitors heading to Aeon Kinta City Mall, tarnishing the image of Ipoh City.
Residents are urging authorities, particularly MBI and the Perak State Health Department, to take firmer action. In addition to regular clean-ups, more stringent measures should be enforced to prevent this issue from recurring.
