By: Zaki Salleh

IPOH: A total of 300 kilograms of used cooking oil was successfully collected from the local community during the Simpang Pulai Circular Economy Carnival, held at BHP Petrol and Masjid Kampung Teluk Memali.

The collection points saw around RM800 paid to residents who responsibly disposed of their used cooking oil.

The initiative, organized by the Gopeng Member of Parliament’s office in collaboration with Green Energy Asia (GEA), aims to encourage sustainable practices within the community.

GEA, a licensed and certified collector and buyer of used cooking oil with certifications from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC), led the recycling effort.

“Our main goal in participating in this program is to recycle used cooking oil.

“We managed to collect nearly 300kg from the local community, and in recognition of their efforts, we distributed over RM800 to residents who disposed of their used oil with us,” GEA stated.

The program also seeks to inspire the community to embrace recycling habits while providing an additional source of income through the circular economy.

Gopeng MP Tan Kar Hing, Simpang Pulai State Assembly Representative Wong Chai Yi, and Ipoh City Council Member Zuraidah Zakaria attended the event to show their support.
