TAIPING: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) of Perak seized controlled goods worth over RM10,000 at a premises near Kuala Sepetang on Tuesday.
According to its Director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, the controlled goods included liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), cooking oil, sugar, and wheat flour.
The inspection, carried out under Ops Tiris 3.0, was conducted by KPDN Perak enforcement officers from the Taiping branch at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
“A 79-year-old local man, who claimed to be the owner of the premises, failed to provide a permit, licence, or approval letter to store the controlled goods at the premises.
“The seizure involved 104 units of LPG cylinders, 19 bottles of cooking oil, 40 kg of packet cooking oil, 132 kg of raw sugar, and 396 units of wheat flour, with an estimated total value of RM10,935.70,” he said today.
As a result, he added, the case would be investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 and the Supply Control Regulations 1974.
“KPDN will continue to enforce new initiatives under the ‘Kita Gempur’ strategy.
“This is part of the government’s efforts to address issues of business manipulations, including preventing the misuse of controlled goods.
“In addition to curbing online business fraud (e-commerce), KPDN will also tackle monopolies and the existence of cartels,” he said.
