IPOH: A drug distribution operation was busted following the arrest of several men and the seizure of drugs worth a total of RM306,080.
Perak Deputy Police Chief, Deputy Commissioner Zulkafli Sariaat, said the operation began with a police raid on a house on St John Road here on November 7.
He said that during the inspection, 42 packets of heroin and compressed blocks of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis were found.
“The total value of the drugs seized is estimated at RM200,400, and a drug test on the suspect showed he tested positive for drugs.
“The suspect also has a previous criminal record related to drug offences,” he added.
It is estimated that the drugs seized could serve up to 26,221 drug users.
Following the initial arrest, the police apprehended two more suspects.
Zulkafli said the first raid on November 8 involved an Indian man standing by the roadside on Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab, Ipoh, believed to be involved in the drug distribution activity linked to the first case.
“Another Indian man was arrested the same day at a house in Taman Mas here.
“Checks revealed that one of the suspects has a criminal record,” he said.
The police also seized two cars, a motorcycle, a yellowish bracelet, two necklaces, and a yellowish pendant.
The estimated value of these items is RM105,680.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and all suspects have been remanded to assist in the investigation.
