LARUT: A rampant syndicate involved in stealing telecommunications cables and palm oil fruits has been dismantled with the arrest of four men.
The gang’s tactic was to target telecommunication cable poles located in dark areas near oil palm plantations.
At the same time, they would also steal palm oil fruit from plantations located far from main roads, using motorcycles.
Selama District Police Chief, Superintendent Sarudin Samah, stated that all the suspects had prior criminal records involving theft and drug-related offenses.
“Tests revealed that all of them tested positive for methamphetamine.
“We also seized copper wires, palm oil fruits, and tools used in the criminal activities, all valued at RM3,000,” he said.
