IPOH: After being temporarily suspended, recreational activities and water sports in Kampar district are now allowed to resume operations.

Kampar District Officer, Nazrul Fazami Mohamad, in a statement, informed that the Guidelines for Operating Recreational Activities and Water Sports set by the Kampar District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) must be adhered to.

He said this applies to all operators of such activities.

“As everyone is aware, all recreational and water sports activities were halted immediately earlier due to the phenomenon of a large water surge (head of water) in the Jahang River, which claimed three lives.

“Following this, several meetings were held between JPBD Kampar representatives and the involved operators, and as a result, a set of guidelines was created as a reference for the operators,” he said in the statement.

With the establishment of these guidelines, JPBD Kampar has given permission for the resumption of all water recreational activities, including water rafting and water tubing, effective November 22.

Last week, three individuals died, believed to have drowned after being swept away by water surge while participating in a rafting activity on the Kampar River.

The victims, including a woman, were part of a group undergoing a team-building course at the incident location.

White water rafting, known for its challenging and thrilling route, has become a popular activity on the Kampar River, attracting enthusiasts of the sport.
