IPOH: Perak will be the venue for the off-road motorcycle race, Rimba Raid, for three consecutive years starting in 2024.
This follows the collaboration agreement between the event organizer, Rimba Adventures Sdn Bhd, and Tourism Perak.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this collaboration was signed by both parties for the organization of Rimba Raid in Perak for the next three years, from 2024 to 2026.
Menteri Besar Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, was present to witness the ceremony.
Rimba Raid is the largest international off-road motorcycle race in Malaysia after MotoGP, with its first series held in 2015 in Mat Daling, Pahang.
After eight years in Pahang, Rimba Raid will now be held in Perak starting this year.
Meanwhile, Saarani stated that Lenggong was chosen as the venue for the event because it is an area rich in natural beauty and eco-tourism.
“The first edition of Rimba Raid in Perak successfully attracted nearly 200 participants from 19 countries.
“The event has received a very positive response from the local community and has indirectly helped boost the rural economy,” he said.
Next year, the event will coincide with the 10th Anniversary of Rimba Raid and the 13th Anniversary of the declaration of Lenggong Valley as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Therefore, the state government has listed the Rimba Raid event as a new segment for extreme sports under the Community Motorsports Tourism Product initiative.
