IPOH: All Service Centres of Members of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) in Perak, whether from the government or opposition, will receive a special financial assistance of RM14,000.
This assistance is being provided as a replacement for the special aid that was not given this year.
The announcement was made by the Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, during the Perak State Legislative Assembly sitting.
“When I announced the special financial aid equivalent to two months’ salary on November 29, I did not mention any aid for the ADUNs, even though I understood that ADUNs were discussing it in their WhatsApp groups. I apologize for not being able to provide it to the ADUNs this time.
“As a replacement, I have agreed to allocate special financial assistance to the service centres.
“The service centres will receive two months’ allowance, meaning we will pay RM14,000 to each ADUN’s service centre,” he said.
In addition, Saarani also announced that the state government has decided to increase the float value for the District Disaster Fund to RM100,000, up from RM50,000 previously.
He said the move would help expedite the distribution of aid to victims facing disasters, such as floods.
“The state government is deeply concerned about the misfortunes faced by flood victims. Therefore, in addition to the aid given to those who have been evacuated to temporary shelters, the state government is always striving to ensure the welfare of the victims during and after the disaster is attended to.
“I am pleased to announce that the state government has agreed to increase the float value to RM100,000, compared to the previous RM50,000.
“It is hoped that with this increase, disaster aid can be expedited to the victims, especially in flood-prone areas,” he said.
