Garbage Vigilante: Is CCTV really watching?

By Angeline Khor

IPOH: A massive heap of garbage has been dumped openly beside the shortcut road to Meru Raya and Gunung Lang, near Taman Tawas Mewah.

Discarded items such as clothes, plastic wrappings, bottles, and even furniture are strewn across the area, despite a “Do Not Litter” sign placed prominently by the Ipoh City Council (MBI).

The sign, which warns that the area is under 24-hour CCTV surveillance, highlights the irony of the situation, as the dumping continues unchecked.

The unsightly mess is an eyesore for drivers passing through, tarnishing the area’s environment and overall appeal.

Adding to the dismay, similar heaps of rubbish were also spotted in nearby residential areas, raising serious concerns about the civic responsibility of the local community.

Hopefully, the authorities will address this issue promptly and residents should make a conscious effort to dispose of their rubbish responsibly, moving forward.
