Pusat Jagaan Rumah Orang-Orang Tua (PKK) Simee Home for the Aged (CWS) Simee Care Centre, held their Annual Christmas Lunch Celebration last Saturday, in not only an early celebration of Christmas, but a celebration of its residents, whose birthdays are in December.
5 senior residents, namely Ho Yew Wong (97 years old), Robert Goh (85 years old), Philominah (84 years old), Amy Chai (83 years old) and Govindaraj (72 years old), were celebrated in conjunction with the festive season.
Carollers sang such classics as Come All Ye Faithful and Joy to the World, to get the festive mood going as guests and visitors filled the hall for a delicious buffet feast.
But they were not the only ones who sang as the residents also sang a variation of Welcome To My World by Jim Reeves, in both English as well as Chinese!
YB Jenny Choy joined in the celebration again this year, offering words of encouragement, and singing Happy Birthday and presenting gifts to the December Birthday guys and gals.
Chairman Vincent Lee gave a speech, thanking all present. He noted that the home has 40 residents, consisting of 23 males and 17 females, with an average age of 83.
He acknowledges the donors and benefactors who continuously support the Home, of whom the Home would not survive without their deep kindness.
In an effort to raise funds in order to continue taking care of their residents, a fundraising “Family Day food Fair” is planned to take place on 14 September 2025.
