Palm kernel husk catches fire at brick factory

BIDOR: A pile of palm kernel husks stored in an open warehouse at the Brick Factory, Kuala Bikam, Jalan Sungkai near here caught fire today.

According to Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the palm kernel husks were used as fuel to fire the bricks that had been processed.

He said that an emergency call was received at 5:58 AM, and personnel from the Bidor Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were dispatched to the scene.

However, no casualties were reported in the incident.

“Upon arrival, the fire and rescue team found several patches of fire and large amounts of smoke coming from the pile of palm kernel husks.

“The operation chief conducted a size-up and applied the RECEO concept,” he said here today.

He added that the firefighting operation was also assisted by a bulldozer from the company to remove the burnt husk remnants and prevent the fire from spreading.
