TAIPING: A business in Kampung Boyan was found imposing a condition on customers to buy other items before purchasing 1kg cooking oil packets.

This irresponsible action led to the business facing enforcement after it was discovered that cooking oil packets were only sold if customers purchased other goods.

According to Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, Director of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Perak, an inspection was carried out on Wednesday following public complaints about the availability of 1kg cooking oil packets at the business.

“An undercover operation was conducted, where the inspector posed as a regular customer. The business was found to require customers to buy additional items in order to purchase the 1kg cooking oil packets.

“Further inspection uncovered 123kg of 1kg cooking oil packets stored in a box at the premises, with some of the oil packets hidden in boxes labeled with other items,” he said on Thursday.

He added that the total value of the seized goods was estimated at RM307.50.

The case will be investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961.
