Ipoh’s kopitiam scene just levelled up. If you haven’t heard of Eight Toast Nanyang Kopitiam yet, consider this your official nudge to check it out. This Johor Bahru-born chain landed in Greentown recently, marking its 10th store, with two more already in the works for Butterworth.
The game plan? To Serve up Nanyang-style comfort food with a side of Western and Thai twists—because why settle for just one cuisine when you can have it all?
What’s Good? Here’s What We Devoured.

Crunchy, savory, and packed with umami—these prawn paste-marinated wings take your classic nasi lemak to the next level. Served with fragrant basmati rice (or swap it for mee siam ) crispy prawn crackers, and the usual suspects (peanuts, ikan bilis, and sambal), this dish delivers both comfort and crunch on a single plate.

If you like your sambal extra spicy, ask for it! It’s got heat and pairs well with everything.

Beehoon that goes down easy. This dish is thin, smooth, and light enough for grandma but tasty enough for everyone else. Imported from China, the beehoon is finer than your average, topped with two juicy prawns and a mild sambal that whispers rather than shouts. Bonus: the gentle egg aroma subtly enhances every bite.

This one’s highly recommended for the glass noodle loyalists. Sweet, savory, garlicky—everything a proper Thai-style claypot dish should be. The prawns? Big, bouncy, and bursting with flavor. The garlic and spring onions? Fragrant enough to make you dive in without hesitation. It’s an easy win.

Sometimes, you just want something that hugs you from the inside. The TeoChew Porridge does just that, arriving with a dim sum tray of condiments so you can mix and match your way to the perfect bite. Simple, hearty, and the kind of dish that makes early mornings worthwhile.

Butter toast meets curry heaven. This dish comes loaded with fried boneless chicken, potatoes, and an onsen egg, all swimming in a rich, velvety curry that practically demands to be mopped up. Perfect for breakfast—or whenever your stomach demands comfort on a plate.
Note: The Nyonya-style chicken curry is creamy, thick, and absolutely delicious.

The namesake dish, and rightly so. Fried toast with cinnamon and crunchy cereal, because life’s too short for boring bread. It’s crisp, it’s sweet, and it’s dangerously snackable.

An authentic bite! A savory fried bun stuffed with fish, giving a nostalgic favorite a delicious twist. If you love fried mantao, this one is worth a try.
What’s a kopitiam without coffee? The brews here are smooth, well-balanced, and strong enough to power you through the day. Whether you’re pairing it with a meal or just swinging by for a caffeine fix, you won’t be disappointed.
